Proven Engineering Products is a family owned business based in Stewarton Scotland, which manufactures and installs wind, hydro and solar energy systems.  Established in 1980 with expertise in mechanical, electrical and control engineering, Proven has been manufacturing renewable energy machinery since 1991. Proven manufactures four models, including the 0.6KW WT600, the 2.5KW WT2500, the 6KW WT6000 and the new 15KW WT15000.

All of these models share a rugged design and Proven's signature downwind blade configuration.  Instead of pointing into the wind by using a tail, these turbines point away from the wind and have no tail.  Because of the harsh conditions on the coast of Scotland, all of the Proven turbines are engineered for extreme wind and marine site operations.

Overspeed protection is provided by the Proven Flexible Blade System.  This uses special hinges on the blades that regulate their pitch in strong winds and "cone" the blades (bend them away from the wind) in extreme winds to keep the rpm of the turbine within proper operating tolerances.  The major benefit to this approach is that the Proven turbines are able to maintain close to maximum output in high winds.  Other turbines use furling systems which reduce the turbine output above a certain wind speed.

The WT600 has an 8 foot rotor diameter and a maximum output of 700 watts at 27 mph wind speed.  It is available in a battery charging configuration and is well-suited to light duty residential or remote telecom applications.  The WT600 is equipped with polypropylene blades and weighs 150 pounds.

The WT2500 has a rotor diameter of 11 feet and is available in both battery charging and grid-connect configurations.  It has a maximum output of 2800 watts at 31 mph wind speed.  It is well-suited for small homes, both on and off-grid.  The WT2500 uses polypropylene blades and weighs 420 pounds.

The Proven WT6000 is a solid turbine for residential uses, either on of off-grid.  It has an 18 foot rotor diameter and produces a maximum output of 6400 watts at 27 mph wind speed.  It comes in both battery charging and grid-connect configurations.  The WT6000 utilizes wood/epoxy blades and weighs 1100 pounds. The Proven WT15000 was just released in 2003 and is one of the larger turbines available for the home, farm or small business market.  It is available in both battery charging and grid-connect configurations and produces a maximum output of 16,000 watts at 27 mph wind speed. It is equipped with glass epoxy blades and weighs 2400 pounds.
